    WHEN WILL THE NEXT BIENNALE OF ART TAKE PLACE?

    The upcoming 59th international Art Exhibition of Venice Biennale:

    • will open in May 2021 and
    • will be closing in November of the same year.

    The exact days of vernissage and opening will be decided in the next couple of months. Today the Biennale Foundation, instead, communicated the name of the curator who will organize the 2021 exhibition.

     

    WHO IS GOING TO BE THE CURATOR OF BIENNALE 2021?

    Cecilia Alemani has just been chosen by the board of directors of Biennale as curator of the 59th Venice Biennale of Art, which will be hosted as usual in the Giardini, in the Arsenale and in other smaller venues all over Venice. Cecilia Alemani has already experience with the Venice Biennale as she curated in 2017 the Italian Pavillion entitled “The Magical World”, presenting site-specific projects by Giorgio Andreotta Calò, Adelita Husni-Bey and Roberto Cuoghi. The Italian Pavillion in 2017 was claimed as one of the best ones of the 57th Biennale of Art.

     

    WHO IS CECILIA ALEMANI?

    Cecilia Alemani is an Italian curator who lives and works between Milan and New York. She is Jr Director and Chief Curator of High Line Art in New York. She has a degree in philosophy taken at Università degli Studi  in Milan and a master in curatorial studies from Brad College, New York. Throughout her career  she has been commissioning, collaborating and curating different projects with some of the most famous living artists, such as El Anatsui, Barbara Kruger, John Baldessari, Sheil Hiocks etc

    Today Cacilia Alemani claimed: “It is a great honor to be able to take on this role in one of the most prestigious and recognized Italian institutions in the world. As the first Italian woman to hold this position, I understand and appreciate the responsibility and also the opportunity offered to me and I intend to give voice to artists to create unique projects that reflect their visions and our society.”
